Recent Case Study: On-Site Repair of Coal Ship Loader Positioning System at CSX Coal Terminal, Baltimore MD.

Test Point was called out to diagnose a fault in one of CSX's two massive ship loaders.  These loaders transfer hundreds of tons of coal per hour from rail cars via conveyers into the hulls of large ships which dock at the base of the loader. A 1000HP 4160V motor runs various hydraulic controls to move the loader and to keep the loading head and control cab level regardless of coal weight on the loader.

	A set of leveling controls and sensors keep the loading head and the cab level.  In this case,  the system had failed and the loader was rendered unusable due to the unstable nature of the control cab.  Test Point's on-site technicians, having never worked on this equipment previously,  were able to diagnose the fault, repair the control system and correct the malfunctioning loading head. This was done in only a few hours allowing the terminal to resume normal activities in a prompt manner.
